Shrink Wrapping Machines

Compact models like the FM77 fit on a standard workbench,  maybe 1.5 meters total. Fully automatic systems with integrated tunnels need 3-4 meters of floor space plus clearance for product infeed and collection. Measure your available floor space before committing, and remember you need access on multiple sides for film loading and maintenance.

Standard polyolefin film is the most common. It shrinks evenly and works across food and pharmaceutical applications. PVC film costs less but isn’t food-safe. Check your film supplier matches what your specific Minipack model supports, since tunnel temperatures vary.

Most models adjust to various sizes within their maximum dimensions. You’ll change film width and tunnel settings between runs, but it’s straightforward enough. Just know that extreme size variations might slow you down with frequent changeovers.

Some machines have integrated tunnels, so you get wrapping and shrinking in one compact unit. Standalone tunnels work when you already have a wrapping system or need higher capacity heat shrinking. Separate tunnels also let you run multiple wrapping stations feeding into one tunnel, which saves money on larger operations.

Manual machines need an operator to fold the film around each product before it goes through the heat tunnel. Semi-automatic models do some of the wrapping for you, but still need manual loading. Fully automatic wrappers handle everything, loading, wrapping, and sealing,  with minimal intervention. Your choice comes down to how many products you’re wrapping per hour and whether labour costs justify automation.
